To all my friends here on the board, Thank You from the bottom of my heart.
Sheila and I have gone through a very difficult time these past 3 months with Anthony leaving for Marine Boot Camp in San Diego. I found the outpouring of support and sympathy for our situation to be healing and refreshing. Your comments to our thread posts and personal messages made a bad time bearable.
Anthony is home with us now, if only for ten days, and Sheila and I have been sorting his things and doing his laundry. We came across a stack of mail that would choke a horse. Many were from us of course and some of his friends from school. I think his girlfriend wrote twice a day! Amongst the stacks of letters were those written by you folks, you know who you are. I am forever in your debt. Anthony never went to mail call and had nothing waiting for him. Your cards and letters were a great encouragement and let him know that there were good and kind people out there that appreciated what he was doing and wished him well.
Again please know that your efforts were appreciated and will never be forgotten. You brung a tear to old Thunder's eye. If I can ever do for your loved ones what you all have done for my son, you need only ask.

My rotator cuff surgery required the insertion of a pin and hook. The pain after the surgery was pretty rough but not much worse than the pain of trying to live with the injury.
I've had lots of people tell me that their results were only 75% recovery of full motion, but my surgery gave me back 100% range of motion and ability. My surgeon's name is Ronald Zipper. He is in North Kansas City MO. He wouldn't cut me until he was sure he could give me an acceptable result. There are other doctors out there that are scalpel happy. Get a couple of opinions before you do anything.
It was 8 weeks from the date of my surgery untill I went back to work.
Good luck.

I WANT REVENGE!!!!!
by worldlygirl inwell, it has finally happened.
my jw husband came home last week and told me he is moving out.
it seems he has been talking to the elders, and they feel his spirituality is being threatened (even though i have not insisted he stop going to meetings, i won't allow any jw material in my home because of my children from a previous marriage - i don't want them exposed to it.

Revenge done well is soul soothing and theraputic.
Send him a "Kiss My Ass" Stripogram to the Kingdom Hall! That ought to shake things up.
Have him read COC before you'll agree to a divorce. He may change his mnd.
Call the Mormons and tell them he wants to convert.
Bust his balls every chance you get.
Talk about the flagrant dissregard for other peoples wellbeing!
If you need a sword, I have several.

Marrying Young
by Descender insomething has been bothering me as of late.
my younger brother, who is 17 years old plans on getting married right after he turns 18 this upcoming year.
i have quite a few problems with this, but he thinks that he knows it all at his age.. i'm concerned for several reasons.
-
Thunder Rider
I don't think the age issue is as critical as the lack of maturity that seems to plauge wittness youth. The limits placed on them as to association with non-JWs and the fact that they are so focused on a future that will never happen, makes them totally unprepared for "REAL" life.
Sheila and I married at 20 and are going to celebrate our 20th anniversary in April. She didn't have the "dub" upbringing that I did. My maturity level was somewhat higher than most at that age as I had practicaly raised my 11 brothers and sisters. I was not completely clueless when I started my own family. I didn't go to college and that sometimes bothers me now. I think I could have had an easier life, had I gotten a degree. Our income at the beginning of our marriage was about $12000.00 a year. It sucked! We had money problems and that caused friction in our relationship. We got through it but we could just as easily have not.
The deck is stacked against him. If he has some doubts about the org., cultivate those doubts and get him the hell out of there! If he marries the "elder's daughter" so to speak, he is in for a rough time. Spare them both the tears, convince him that he needs to rethink this whole thing.
Its hard enough being married without the add pressures of JW heavy handed regulations, low income, little experience and little maturity. As mentioned before that's a formula for distaster if any.
Sad but true.

For The Love Of Birds
by RAYZORBLADE inthis is not unique to north america, but in some respects, given this continent's cities, and the many skyscrapers that dot the urban landscape, you may wonder how on earth this affects our feathered friends.
well, i'm sure some of you have either seen, or experienced firsthand, a bird colliding with a window: bay window at home, office window, high rise window, automobile window etc., and of course, depending upon their velocity, sometimes it is to their doom.
yes, we are losing many bird species, and here in ontario, some of our songbirds are succumbing to architectural beauty over practical design.

Way to go Rayzor! Glad to hear the little guy was alright.
Its funny that you start a thread about birds today. while I was cleaning house last night, while Sheila was at school, I found and filled our hummingbird feeder. I put it up on the cross bracing on the roof over the front stoop. Within 20 minutes 2 hummingbirds were hovering there 3 feet in front of our front door.
We had seen them sporadicaly in Sheila's flowes but they usually darted off after a few seconds. I watched them for about 15 minutes. They are a wonder to behold. I hope Sheila gets to see them today. Its looking like the heatwave may be breaking today and we might actually get to enjoy the outdoors again.
